Great news - IV3 will be relaunching soon in most states! If you’re new to IV3, here are some basic FAQs:
What is IV3?
IV3, or Independent Voter Validation & Verification, is a secure web app provided by True the Vote. Our team obtains raw state voter data files, compares them to USPS data, and “flags” which records are potentially ineligible.
Why would a record be flagged?
If a voter is registered at an ineligible address such as a PO Box or commercial address, if they have moved out of their area, or if they have been “inactive” for several years, that record may need to be reviewed by the local election administrator to determine whether or not they should be removed from the voter roll.
How does IV3 work?
Depending on state statutes, almost every eligible voter in their jurisdiction may challenge ineligible voter records. Once our data is ingested into IV3, approved volunteers will have access to the records in their locality. They will then be able to identify which records they choose to challenge to then submit to their local election administrator to review.
What does “challenge” mean and is it difficult?
Challenging is the simple process of identifying voter records that may no longer be valid and submitting them to your local election administrator. IV3 makes it easy to identify, review, and submit them to be challenged. You can export your entire list from your user profile and submit them according to your locality’s requirements.
How can you help clean our voter rolls?
Register for an account and await your approval (you must be an eligible voter in your locality in order to submit challenges). Once IV3 is ready to go, we will begin verifying users and will send you an email with login credentials. Then you can begin!
In the 2024 cycle, IV3 users submitted over one million potentially-ineligible records. The very act of reviewing and submitting challenges is a giant leap in being involved and demonstrating to our officials that we are paying attention—something that was not the case in the past. This demonstration alone will eventually lead to better-maintained rolls.
Is the above a quick change? No…but change always starts somewhere and we must continue forging ahead for the benefit of our future generations.
