Steady Watchmen: Week 3

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. What a past week it was!
In case you missed it, last week we not only moved into Week 2 of our Steady Watchmen summer campaign, but we launched the beta version of LegiTrack (which is actually perfect timing for this week’s goals!)
Again, we are keeping these weekly goals bitesized - so don’t stress if you need to catch up a bit! Let’s get into it 😀
✅ Week 3 - Submit Public Comment on Upcoming Legislation:
- Use your state legislature’s site to find election-related bills in motion: True the Vote’s website makes this as easy. —> Visit our Info by State page —> Select your state —> Click on the Election Info tab —> Find the link called “Legislature”Unsure of what you’re looking for? Visit LegiTrack’s FAQs and Index of common terms!
- Submit written comment or sign up to speak at a committee meeting: Be brief, bold, and respectful. If your state is out of session or about to adjourn, there is no harm in drafting something up anyway! Plan ahead starting now!See "Conversations with Lawmakers” for a great place to start.
- Share these opportunities with your network: Whether you’ve already formed your group of Watchmen or you’ve joined an online community, have these conversations now. So many citizens are completely unaware of new bills in play. Send a text or an email, make a phone call, or post on social media. Remember to release those negative thoughts that this is too big for you.
Be the one to bring the positive or the negative into the light! The days of passing legislation without our knowledge ends now.
