The Foundation of (US)A Through Darkness

Hi Friend!

Our nation’s foundation was not built merely on the pursuit of prosperity or comfort, but on the acknowledgment that our rights come from God - that liberty itself carries both blessing and responsibility. That faith has come under attack time and time again, but Americans have prevailed through...our faith...time and time again.

May 17, 1776 was observed by the Continental Congress as a national day of fasting, prayer, and repentance during the fight for independence. In a moment of uncertainty and crisis, the people of this nation were called to humble themselves before God, seek wisdom, pray for protection, and ask for His favor.

Just weeks later, the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Faith and gratitude for God's protection then went on to inspire the creation of (what eventually became) our National Anthem during the War of 1812 after Francis Scott Key witnessed the undeniable love for God and Country. If you haven't seen this video, "Star Spangled Banner As You've Never Heard It", please do. While this is an artistic vision of what may have taken place, I entreat you to watch it. Bring some tissues.

As Catherine, Jenna, and I discussed during this past Wednesday's TTVN Live, now, 250 years later, President Trump has called for 50 days of prayer and fasting beginning this Sunday, May 17, 2026 (and the TTV Team will be there!)

Two hundred and fifty years. In Scripture, jubilees and generational cycles often mark periods of testing, refinement, restoration, or the rise and fall of nations. Looking around today, it is hard not to recognize that we have entered one of those defining moments - only this time, it's worldwide - with America being the first domino.

We are living, again, through a time of deep exhaustion and uncertainty. Prices continue to rise. Families are struggling to afford groceries, homes, cars, and basic necessities. Relationships have fractured. Institutions people once trusted have been exposed. The masks of those who preached “peace” and “unity” have fallen away, revealing division, corruption, and self-interest beneath the surface.

Earlier this week, Catherine and I had the opportunity to join the Cause of America call to discuss our initiatives and the work ahead. The people on that call were engaged, diligent, hungry for truth, and (understandably) tired. The same kind of tired many of you have shared with us over the past several years.

And yet, I said something on that call that I believe now more than ever: thank God for 2020 and for the darkness that came with it.

Because in that silence, many finally heard the laughter of evil. We could finally perceive those who were prideful, mocking us through their covert messages to comply, and delighted by chaos and yours and my unrest. What was intended to weaken and divide this nation instead became a refining fire for millions of Americans...and then some.

That darkness was manufactured. It was designed to break spirits, destroy stability, and collapse confidence in the future. But it did not succeed.

Instead, you woke up.

Eyes were opened. Discernment sharpened. Citizens who had never paid attention before suddenly saw behind the curtain. And while today’s darkness feels heavy in a different way, the schemes hiding within it are continuing to be exposed and brought into the light.

That is why, even exhausted, we keep showing up.

We pick up our shields and step back onto the battlefield because we understand what is at stake. We were chosen to live in this moment - to see beyond the veil, to defend what generations before us fought to secure, and to preserve it for the generations still to come.

We fight for our children and our grandchildren.

Whether you are a full-time election worker, a donor, a prayer warrior, or simply someone faithfully sharing truth and calls to action online, your role is essential.

As a volunteer, you are essential. Every moment you have spent considering your next move, pressing "send" on an email to a representative, showing up to a polling place only to witness unjust actions that seem to have no consequences - but you said something anyway, or every time you pray while you're on your way to work or to pick up the kids is essential.

The TTV Team will be at the Rededication to God ceremony this weekend in DC. Whether you pray or not - and maybe you don't believe at all (and that's ok!), I ask you to do one thing: join us. Join us in remembering those who fought, died, and lived for this nation. Join us in gratitude that, despite every hardship, division, and challenge, we are still standing 250 years later.

And in a time that often feels overwhelmingly dark, join us in recognizing something else: light still breaks through. Hope still remains. And the future of this nation is still worth fighting for.

You are here for such a time as this.

God bless you and God bless America.

Ever Onward!

“And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” - Esther 4:14
