Connecticut Marie Duffy (Democratic Registrar of Voters) F 2000-09 D Absentee Ballot Fraud Illegal Assistance Marie Duffy was a Democratic Registrar of Voters and was to supervise the voting of the absentee ballots issued by the West Haven Town Clerk, along with the complainant Tracy Morrissey, to represent the interest of each of the two Democratic candidates competing in the September 12, 2000 Democratic primary in West Haven. Duffy was accused of assisting nursing home residents fill in their ballots without Morrissey present. Duffy also was accused of delivering the ballots without Morrissey present. Duffy entered a consent agreement with the state of Connecticut, paid a civil penalty of $1,000, was considered officially reprimanded for her violations and expected to fully comply with the state requirements. Illinois Elizabeth Dag Um Keathley F 2006-11 General Non-citizen voting 1 Elizabeth Dag Um Keathley, a citizen of the Philippines, came to the United States in 2004 on a non-immigrant K-3 visa, illegally registered to vote when she obtained a driver’s license in Illinois, and illegally voted in the 2006 midterm congressional election. Kentucky Sherman Neace (three-term Perry County judge-executive and candidate for magistrate) Chester Jones M 2008 General D 2009-06 Vote Buying Chester Jones and Sherman Neace, public officials, reportedly diverted $7,500 from the State Democratic Party to buy votes for themselves. Jones acquired 75 counter checks from the local bank, leaving the payee blank, and he and Neace distributed checks for $100 to buy votes. Florida Liltovia Rhodes F 2010 Registration fraud 55 In Miami, Florida, former ACORN voter registration canvassers Maurice Childress, Kashawn John, Liltovia Rhodes, Carlos Torres, Evangeline Williams, Lilkevia Williams, and Richard Williams, were all convicted of “false swearing in an election.” Accused of filing multiple voter registration applications with fictitious names and as the same individuals and registering ACORN canvassers to vote multiple times while working on an ACORN voter drive. Charges: 27 counts of false swearing in connection with voting or elections and 28 counts of submission of false voter registration information. Tennessee Carrie Botts Christina Botts F 2012 2013-07 Registration fraud Forgery 1 0 Christina Botts was indicted on 13 counts and Carrie Botts was indicted on one count, of voter registration fraud for fraudulently registering voters in Scott County in September 2012. They were altering address information on voter registration forms so it would appear the individuals lived in the city of Huntsville. Alabama Janice Hart Lesa Coleman Janice Hart Daniel Reynolds F 2013 Dothan municipal D 2014-05 Absentee/Mail Conspiracy 8 8 Janice Hart, pleaded* guilty to eight misdemeanor absentee ballot fraud charges (reduced from eight felony charges) for illegally obtaining absentee ballots during the 2013 Dothan city commission election on behalf of District 2 Commissioner Amos Newsome. Newsome won the race by just 14 votes.
