Connecticut Lynn Appleby Absentee/Mail Appleby, a city employee, was accused of voting an absentee ballot when he could have voted in person. $200 fine and ordered to comply with the law in the future
Washington Jayson Lee Woods M 2007-07 Registration Fraud 8 Felony charges were filed against 7 individuals who submitted about 1,800 registration cards on behalf of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. The organization agreed to keep a better eye on its employees and pay $25,000 to defray costs of the investigation. Jayson Lee Woods was charged with 8 counts of providing false information on a voter registration, a felony. Texas Melinda Hunter F 2004 Primary Absentee/Mail Illegal assistance 7 7 Melinda Hunter was charged with seven counts of absentee ballot fraud in the 2004 primary election. Additional allegations included unlawfully obstructing a poll watcher, witnessing multiple ballot applications, and providing illegal assistance. Hunter entered pre-trial diversion in 2006. New Hampshire Stephan Bryant Ordway II M 2008-11 General Registration Fraud Ineligible district voting The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office investigated Stephan Bryant Ordway II because he reportedly registered and voted for the first time on Election Day without photo identification, and the United States Post Office returned a verification letter sent to his address as undeliverable. His identity was later verified, according to a New Hampshire Attorney General's Office investigation. Alabama Scotty D. Cole William F. Bailey Mary Jo Ingram Eugene Emerson David Sutherland Jimmy F. Richardson Denita Lee Idas L. Neal, Jr. M 2000-06 Republican primary R 2000-06 Vote buying Absentee/Mail Conspiracy 2 1 Eight Alabamans were convicted on federal and state charges of vote buying and absentee ballot fraud in Winston County in the June 2000 Republican primary. All eight entered guilty pleas, admitting their roles in the voter fraud conspiracy that involved using cash, beer and liquor to buy votes. Scotty Cole pleaded* guilty to one federal count of conspiracy to commit vote buying and one state felony count of illegal absentee voting. Illinois Jeannette Sims F 2008-11 2009-04 Registration Fraud Forgery Sims reportedly filed 10 fake voter registration cards before the November 2008 election. Sims was working with a voter registration drive sponsored by the Service Employees International Union. A handwriting expert examined the cards and determined that Sims filled out all 10 cards with fake addresses. Many of the registration cards were submitted with addresses that do not exist, while others bore the names of people who did not live at the addresses listed on the cards.
