She admitted to falsifying the ballots of five voters to benefit certain candidates, including her brother, Circuit Court Judge Marvin Wiggins, and her husband, Senator Bobby Singleton (D-Greensboro). Alabama Daniel Webster Reynolds III Lesa Coleman Janice Hart Olivia Reynolds M 2013 Dothan municipal D 2014-07 Absentee/Mail Conspiracy 3 3 Daniel Webster Reynolds III pleaded* guilty to three counts of absentee ballot fraud, a class C felony, as part of a scheme to falsify absentee ballots in the 2013 Dothan city commission election on behalf of District 2 Commissioner Amos Newsome. Newsome won the election by just 14 votes. Alabama Nathaniel Gosha (a former Russell County commissioner and Phenix City Council candidate) Lizzie Mae Perry M 2001-09 Phenix City municipal Absentee/mail Vote Selling Forgery 37 9 Nathaniel Gosha, a former Russell County commissioner and Phenix City Council candidate, was convicted of 16 felony counts of possessing forged documents, 9 felony counts of falsifying absentee ballots, and 12 misdemeanor counts of disclosing the votes of others, in a scheme to sell absentee ballots in the September 2001 municipal election. Co-defendant Lizzie Mae Perry pleaded guilty to charges of absentee ballot fraud and agreed to testify against Gosha. Coleman illegally obtained absentee voter ballots during the 2013 Dothan city commission election on behalf of District 2 Commissioner Amos Newsome. Newsome won the race by just 14 votes. Alabama Lizzie Mae Perry Nathaniel Gosha F 2001-09 Phenix City municipal Absentee/Mail Forgery 4 58 Lizzie Mae Perry pleaded* guilty to two felony counts of falsifying absentee ballots and two misdemeanor counts of disclosing votes, as part of a voter fraud scheme in the September 2001 Phenix City election. Perry and co-defendant Nathaniel Gosha, who she agreed to testify against, falsified ballots by having people sign as witnesses to absentee ballot affidavits that had not been signed or sworn by the voters, and by putting false information about the voters' places of residence on absentee ballot affidavits. Perry arranged for voters to apply for absentee ballots, then had witnesses at her Russell County School District Head Start office sign affidavits for the ballots even though the applicants were not present. Perry delivered 58 of the marked ballots. *Plea deal: For each of 2 felonies - 18 months imprisonment (suspended), 30 days in jail, 18 months probation, $600 fine. Alabama Clifford Don Twilley (campaign official and board of education chairman) M 2010-06 2011 Vote Buying Board of Education Chairman Twilley indicted for vote buying. The charge stems from an investigation into Twilley's conduct in the June 2010 elections in Wilcox County. He was indicted for vote buying. Motion to nolle prosse filed by the state was granted. Alabama Olivia Reynolds Lesa Coleman Janice Hart Daniel Reynolds F 2013 Dothan municipal D 2014-05 Absentee/Mail Conspiracy 26 24 Olivia Reynolds was convicted of 24 counts of fraudulently obtaining absentee ballots during the 2013 Dothan city commission election on behalf of District 2 Commissioner Amos Newsome, her boyfriend. Newsome won the race by just 14 votes. Alabama Pinto Smith (former county commissioner) Connie Tyree M 1994-11 General 1997-01 Absentee/Mail Impersonation Forgery 13 Greene County Commissioner Pinto Smith and Connie Tyree, a county employee and deputy registrar, were convicted of absentee ballot fraud stemming from the 1994 general election. Smith and Tyree falsified absentee ballot applications and voter registrations, falsely signed as witnesses, provided false address information and forged signatures.
