North Carolina Erik Ray Jackson M 2011-10 Candor municipal 2012-02 Ineligible district voting (+registration) Erik Ray Jackson, accused of voter fraud in the 2011 municipal elections in Candor, had the charges dismissed in a plea* agreement in Superior Court in Troy in 2013. Jackson pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of giving false information to law enforcement. The charges of fraudulent voter registration and fraudulent voting were dismissed. Superior Court Judge Bradford Long sentenced Jackson to 18 months of unsupervised probation and court costs. Jackson was charged on Feb. 17, 2012, with the voter registration violations and was free on a $1,000 unsecured bond. Jackson was alleged to have registered to vote in Montgomery County on Oct. 14, 2011, and claimed the same Candor address as his friend, Wayne Holyfield. The subsequent investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Jackson lived in Lexington and, while he had been staying at Holyfield’s residence, had not met the 30-day residency requirement.
