Indicted by a grand jury in April 2009 on 3 counts of election falsification, 2 counts of complicity to election falsification and 1 count of complicity to prohibitions relating to petitions. After the indictment, he fled to California where he was later found and returned to Ohio to face the charges in December 2010. Allegations regarded violations of the Political Practices Act related to the May 20, 2008 election for sheriff of Perry County. |Illinois||Jeannette Sims||F||2008-11||2009-04||Registration Fraud||Forgery||Sims reportedly filed 10 fake voter registration cards before the November 2008 election. Sims was working with a voter registration drive sponsored by the Service Employees International Union. A handwriting expert examined the cards and determined that Sims filled out all 10 cards with fake addresses. Many of the registration cards were submitted with addresses that do not exist, while others bore the names of people who did not live at the addresses listed on the cards. Both women were named in a December 2012 indictment accusing them of having voted in the 2010 Alton election even though they were not eligible to vote in it. In 2010, a controversy sparked in the small Hidalgo County town when nearly three dozen voters were flagged by the city, which had chosen to run its own election.
