Connecticut Christina Ayala (former state representative) F Multiple D 2014-09 Ineligible district voting Registration fraud - ineligible district 19 8 Connecticut State Rep. Christina Ayala pleaded* guilty to two criminal counts and two counts of providing a false statement after being charged with 19 counts of voter fraud: 8 counts of fraudulent voting, 10 counts of primary or enrollment violations, and 1 count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Ayala was accused of voting in local and state elections in districts where she did not live and providing fabricated evidence to state Election Enforcement Commission investigators that showed she lived at an address in a district where she voted while actually living outside the district. Ayala represented the 128th District, elected in 2012 to replace her cousin, Andres Ayala, who was elected to the state Senate. Colorado David Harold Shackley M 2008 2009 R Multiple voting 1 2 David Harold Shackley was found guilty of voting twice, a misdemeanor, in county elections in 2008 and 2009. Shackley voted early in one county, and then by mail in another. Despite having been warned against voting multiple times after the 2008 election, he did so again in 2009. Michigan José Antonio Ramirez-Velázquez M General 2013-04 Non-citizen voting Registration fraud 1 3 José Antonio Ramirez-Velázquez, a Mexican citizen, was charged with making a material false statement when registering to vote, a 90-day misdemeanor, after illegally registering to vote and voting in federal elections in November 2004, 2006 and 2008. Georgia Mohammad Shafiq M 2012 County Sheriff Race 2012 Registration fraud 2 0 Mohammad Shafiq pleaded* guilty to two counts of voter fraud for altering information on two voter registration cards that weren’t his own. Shafiq dropped off numerous voter registration cards at the county elections office in 2012; two were proven fraudulent. Kentucky Randall E. Salyer M 2010-11 General 2011-02 Vote buying 2 Randall E. Salyer was convicted by a jury on two counts of vote buying. Evidence at trial proved that Salyer paid two individuals for their votes in November 2010. New Mexico "Buddy the Dog" 2012 Registration fraud 0 A New Mexico man has registered his 3-year-old black Labrador, Buddy, to vote. "I made up a birth date [for Buddy], and I made up a social security number . . . and I had a voter registration card in my hand for Buddy two weeks later." The man, a registered Republican, said he wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to commit voter fraud: "Somebody should have verified this information" and taken a look at exactly who (or what) was registering. . . California 113 Contra Costa County voters 2016-06 Primary Multiple voting 113 The Contra Costa County Elections Division discovered 113 registered voters voted twice and had both ballots counted during the June 2016 Presidential Primary Election, as a result of an emergency accommodation to the California Secretary of State’s office.
