Kentucky Scott Lynn McCarty Gary “Rooster” Risner Tami Jo Risner Mason Daniels Larry Shepherd M 2014-05 Democratic primary D Vote buying Illegal assistance In person 1 1 Scott Lynn McCarty pleaded* guilty to a misdemeanor charge that he aided and abetted the payment of a woman in the May 2014 primary in Magoffin County, KY. McCarty said in a court document that he went in the voting booth with the woman to make sure she voted for certain candidates — who were not named in the document — and then directed the woman to see another person McCarty knew who would pay her for voting. Accompanying people into voting booths under the guise that they need assistance has been a common tactic in vote-buying in Kentucky. McCarty faces up to a year in prison. McCarty is charged in another case with Magoffin County Magistrate Gary “Rooster” Risner; his wife, Tami Jo Risner; Mason Daniels; and Larry Shepherd, the husband of county Clerk Renee Arnett Shepherd. Palmer was charged with a class one election offense (felony voter fraud), for voting twice in the April 2015 election. According to documents Greene County Clerk's office provided to the Sheriff's office, on April 7, Palmer voted at the Remington's Event Center, the proper polling site for the home address she had given to election officials. Palmer told a Greene County sheriff's deputy she did not believe both of her votes would count toward the election. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/politics/elections/2015/11/13/months-later... http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/local/ozarks/2015/12/03/greene-county-woma... http://themissouritimes.com/20135/possible-case-of-voter-fraud-investigated-in-g...

North Carolina Karen Bridges F 2015-11 Trinity municipal Ineligible district voting In person 1 Criminal charges will be recommended in the voter fraud case concerning former Trinity resident Karen Bridges. The Randolph County Board of Elections voted to make the recommendation to the District Attorney’s Office, based on state statutes. Bridges cast a vote in the November 2015 city election, knowing that she was no longer a resident of Trinity and therefore ineligible to vote. Candidate Tommy Johnson challenged the right of Bridges, a former member of the Trinity Planning Board and a former Trinity City Council member, to vote in the election. Johnson is tied with candidate Linda Gantt, 168-to-168, for the seat. Bridges said she believed she did nothing wrong because a poll worker allowed her to vote. Darren Allen, an elections board member, said at an election protest meeting that he didn’t believe someone who had been involved in the process, had conducted several election campaigns and served in a town office could not have known she was ineligible to vote. The board also approved removing Bridges’ name from the county voter rolls. “She testified that she is no longer a resident of Trinity,” said board member William McAnulty. “She has admitted that she moved, so the administration can remove her name. We’ll send her notification that we did that.” The Randolph County Board of Elections also voted to recommend Trinity conduct a new election for the at-large seat that was on the Nov. 3 municipal election ballot. http://courier-tribune.com/news/local/trinity-may-have-hold-new-election http://courier-tribune.com/news/local/elections-board-recommends-charges-against...
