DeFiglio pleaded* guilty to first-degree falsifying business records in connection with the 2009 Working Families Party primary in Troy, NY. The WFP was founded by key members of ACORN, and shares many of its political strategies. The WFP has listed ACORN as an affiliate program directly on their Web site. DeFiglio was identified as being one of three men who convinced two mentally disabled men to sign absentee ballots which were later filled in for them. Hudson Hallum, Kent Hallum, Phillip Wayne Carter and Sam Malone pleaded* guilty to the conspiracy that helped Hudson Hallum win his seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives in 2011. Conspiring to commit election fraud in a scheme that included destroying ballots and exchanging money, alcohol and food for votes. Prosecutors said Hallum and his father, Kent, tasked campaign workers Phillip Wayne Carter and Sam Malone with obtaining absentee ballot applications for certain voters and assisting voters in filling out the ballots, while actually completing absentee ballots in some instances without regard to the voter's actual candidate choice. A total of nine people were charged by federal and state authorities in connection with the plan. Carter had used the same absentee ballot fraud strategy in other elections at the state and federal level. Carter organized others, including Malone, a Quorum Court member, School Board member and police officer, to participate.
