New Jersey Luquay Zahir Marty Small Ernest Storr Tracy Pijuan Floyd Tally David Callaway Toni Dixon Dameka Cross Mark Crumble Michele Griffin Ramona Stephens Demaris Jones Ronald Harris 2009 Municipal - Democratic primary 2009-09 Absentee Ballot Fraud 9 David Callaway and Luquay Q. Zahir were campaign workers allegedly working alongside Atlantic City Councilman Marty Small to commit absentee ballot fraud. They were charged with 9 counts of voter fraud. Allegedly, voters were asked to apply for absentee ballots, but instead of letting the voters choose their own candidate, a self-proclaimed “secret army” mishandled ballots and even had a “shredding party” to dispose of votes for opposing candidates. Voters were told whom to vote for, never received their ballots — which wound up being cast anyway — or got their applications and ballots at the same time. It was alleged that some voters did not even live in the city, and used fictitious addresses in order to vote. Zahir was acquitted. New Jersey Steve Fulop campaign 2013-05 Jersey City municipal Absentee/mail Ballot tampering The re-election campaign of Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy accused rival City Councilman Steve Fulop’s campaign of sending out mail-in ballot applications that use a Fulop P.O. box, not the Hudson County clerk, as a return address. “Fulop is attempting to trick people into sending their ballots to the wrong place in order to suppress the vote in Ward F a ward Fulop knows he will lose,” says Jermaine Robinson, Healy’s Ward F council hopeful. New Jersey’s administrative code reads that the return address on mail-in ballot applications “shall not be altered or changed by any person or entity.” Fulop’s campaign insists it has the legal right to send out the applications with its address on it. A state Division of Elections spokesman referred comment to Hudson County Clerk Barbara Netchert. The state Election Law Enforcement Commission declined to comment. Netchert responded with a statement that she issued on Friday urging voters to use the county’s official application for mail-in ballots. http://www.nj.com/jjournal-news/index.ssf/2013/05/jersey_city_mayors_re-election...
North Carolina Tami Locust campaign (candidate) 2011-10 Greenville municipal Voter intimidation/coercion The Pitt County Board of Elections heard complaints on November 29, 2011, into possible voter fraud involving the District 2 race for Greenville City Council. In October, several people sent letters to the PCBOE saying they were forced to write in the name of a candidate. Those complaints allege that members of the Tami Locust campaign forced them to write in her name, claiming voter intimidation. Locust's campaign manager, Christopher Taylor, says neither he nor Locust intimidated potential voters. The results of the hearing were to be forwarded to the state Board of Elections. Incumbent Rose Glover won the election with 62% of the votes. http://www.witn.com/home/headlines/Date_Set_For_Greenville_Voter_Fraud_Hearing_1...
