|Indiana||Pam Brunette||F||2008||Democratic primary||D||2012-04||Petition fraud||Forgery||3||0||Pam Brunette pleaded* guilty to one count of felony forgery, one count of felony official misconduct and one count of felony falsifying a petition. Charges were filed against four St. Joseph County Democratic officials and deputies as part of a multiple-felony case involving the alleged forging of Democratic presidential primary petitions in the 2008 election, which put then-candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the Indiana ballot. The officials were accused of taking part in a scheme to fake signatures and names on the primary petitions needed to run for president. Brunette was employed as the Democrat board member in the voter registration office, appointed by former St. Joseph County Democratic party chair Butch Morgan. Page after page of the petitions were clearly in the same handwriting, but the petitions sailed through the Board of Elections without any problems, "because election workers in charge of verifying their validity were the same people faking the signatures." Prosecutors said that nine of the Obama petition pages were apparently forged. Each petition contains up to 10 names, making a possible total of 90 faked names, which could have brought the Obama total below the legal limit that was required for him to qualify for the ballot.||*Plea deal: 2 years probation, testified against Morgan and Blythe||http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/17/indiana-dem-official-sentenced-to-pri...||http://articles.southbendtribune.com/2013-04-25/news/38825647_1_morgan-and-blyth...|
|New Jersey||Luquay Zahir||Marty Small Ernest Storr Tracy Pijuan Floyd Tally David Callaway Toni Dixon Dameka Cross Mark Crumble Michele Griffin Ramona Stephens Demaris Jones Ronald Harris||2009||Municipal - Democratic primary||2009-09||Absentee Ballot Fraud||9||David Callaway and Luquay Q. Zahir were campaign workers allegedly working alongside Atlantic City Councilman Marty Small to commit absentee ballot fraud. They were charged with 9 counts of voter fraud. Allegedly, voters were asked to apply for absentee ballots, but instead of letting the voters choose their own candidate, a self-proclaimed “secret army” mishandled ballots and even had a “shredding party” to dispose of votes for opposing candidates. Voters were told whom to vote for, never received their ballots — which wound up being cast anyway — or got their applications and ballots at the same time. It was alleged that some voters did not even live in the city, and used fictitious addresses in order to vote. Zahir was acquitted.||Acquitted||http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/395062-new-jersey-dcj-cases-3.html||http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/breaking/atlantic-city-councilman-marty-...|
