Voters were paid either a “dime bag” of cocaine or $10 per vote. Garcia paid three voters by dropping $30 into the car in which they were seated, through an open car window, after they voted. Garcia was the campaign manager for candidates in the 2012 school board race and instructed at least five "politiqueras" or campaign workers to pay cash or cocaine for votes. |Illinois||Maria Azada||F||Primary, General||2011-03||Non-citizen voting||Registration fraud - ineligible non-citizen||17||9||Maria Azada, an illegal alien from the Philippines, was found guilty of 17 felony counts related to voter fraud in Lake County, including perjury, mutilation of election materials, and tampering with voting machines in connection with illegal voting by a non-U.S. citizen. In February 2009, Azada admitted to a USCIS officer during an interview for an immigration benefit that she had voted in an election. An investigation revealed that Azada voted nine times in primary, general and consolidated elections between 2003 and 2009. |Maryland||Fredericus Hubertus Slicher||M||"Numerous federal elections for more than 30 years"||Non-citizen voting (+registration)||Registration fraud - noncitizen||Slicher has voted in numerous federal elections for more than 30 years despite being ineligible to vote due to alienage. In August 2013, Slicher was discovered by ERO officers to be a foreign national on the Maryland Sex Offender Registry. In September 2013, ERO officers asked Slicher about his citizenship. Slicher falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen and presented the forged naturalization certificate as proof, along with his fraudulently obtained U.S. passport. After it was determined that the documents were forged, ERO officers arrested him for being in violation of U.S. immigration law. During questioning it was discovered that Slicher was collecting Medicare, social security benefits and had been actively voting. According to his plea agreement, Slicher is a citizen and national of Netherlands, who entered the United States in 1967 on a visitor visa. He was later given a work visa, which expired in 1969. Slicher applied for a permanent work visa, but was denied. Nevertheless, Slicher did not leave the United States and has been unlawfully present ever since. In 1974, Slicher obtained a forged U.S. naturalization certificate which he used to obtain numerous identity documents, including a U.S. passport, a social security card and a Maryland driver's license. Slicher is a registered sex offender as the result of a 2004 state child abuse conviction.||3 months in prison followed by 1 year of supervised release. Judge Bennett also entered an order that Slicher pay restitution of $48,928 for social security and Medicare benefits unlawfully received. Admitted in court that he listed a false address on his absentee ballot application, the address of his cousin, Ray Guillen, and that he picked up his absentee ballot application from the mayor's campaign headquarters. Charged with 1 count of fraudulent application for ballots, 1 count voting in other precinct, 1 count perjury. Pleaded guilty to voting in other precinct, a misdemeanor.
