Virginia Feda Kidd Morton F 2011-08 R Petition fraud 1 0 Feda Kidd Morton pleaded* guilty to a felony charge of falsifying a campaign document for failing to witness signatures on a candidate Deborah Rittenhouse's petitions to qualify for the 2011 ballot for Commissioner of Revenue. Six Fluvanna County residents testified they signed the petition to get Rittenhouse on the ballot, but not in Morton’s presence. Virginia election law states people collecting signatures for candidates must swear they personally witnessed voters signing the petition. Morton was ordered to perform 150 hours of community service and is not allowed to have anything to do with a campaign or election. New York Debra Ortutay (former Independence Republican Party Chairwoman) F R 2011-06 Petition Fraud 17 Debra Ortutay was accused of lying to a grand jury about signatures on a petition. She testified to the validity of 12 signatures on a petition, later defending the signatures in a legal challenge. Ortutay had not witnessed the signatures. Kansas Randall Kilian M 2012-11 General R 2016-01 Multiple voting Ineligible district voting 3 1 Randall Kilian pleaded* guilty to voting without being qualified, a Class A misdemeanor, after doube voting in the 2012 general election. Kilian lived and voted in Colorado, and also cast a ballot without being lawfully registered to vote in Ellis County, Kansas in the same election. New York John Thompson (former undersheriff) M R 2003 Petition Fraud 13 Former Undersheriff John Thompson was charged with 7 felonies and 6 misdemeanors, with counts ranging from forgery to conspiracy, related to falsifying campaign petitions to get candidates on the ballot. North Carolina Dianna Lightfoot F R Registration fraud - ineligible address Ineligible district voting Dianna Lightfoot registered to vote using an address of a UPS store. Public records from the N.C. State Board of Elections show Lightfoot registered to vote at her mailing address, instead of her residential address. Board of Elections rules clearly state that voters must provide a residential address to register to vote. Falsifying voter registration information is considered a Class I Felony. Only one Dianna Lightfoot is registered to vote in the state. That registration is for Dianna L. Lightfoot, 353 Jonestown Road, Winston-Salem. That is the address of a UPS store. Store manager Jared Roper said Lightfoot is a customer at the store and rents a mailbox there. Board of Elections records show Lightfoot registered to vote in Forsyth County in March 2012 as a Republican. Her voting record shows she cast ballots in the May primary, July primary and November general election. Kansas Betty Gaedtke F 2010 General R 2015-10 Absentee/Mail Multiple voting 3 1 Betty Gaedtke was charged with three misdemeanor counts for double voting in both Kansas and Arkansas in 2010. The charges were dropped because the signature on her absentee ballot didn’t match her actual signature. Her husband Steven Gaedtke pleaded guilty to one count for double voting. Charged with 3 counts conspiracy to violate election laws, 1 count election fraud, 1 count authority line violation, and 1 count obstruction of justice. Colorado Maureen Moss F 2016 Republican primary R 2016-06 Petition fraud Forgery 34 0 Maureen Moss, was charged with 34 felony counts of forging voters' signatures on a petition to get state Rep. Jon Keyser on the 2016 Republican primary ballot for U.S. Senate. Moss was working for Black Diamond Outreach at the time.
