California Ricardo Lopez-Munguia M 2008-11 General 2012 Non-citizen voting 3 1 Ricardo Lopez-Munguia, a Mexican who was deported decades ago for drug trafficking, pleaded* guilty to living illegally in Escondido under a false identity, making a false claim to U.S. citizenship, and fraudulently voting in the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Lopez-Munguia assumed the identity of Gustavo Carranza-Madrigal, a U.S. citizen, and obtained a fraudulent California driver's license, a Social Security card and a U.S. passport. Mississippi Carl Mickens (Noxubee County Circuit Clerk) Noxubee County 2003 2005-02 Section 11(b), Voting Rights Act violation Voter intimidation/coercion Carl Mickens, individually and in his official capacity as Circuit Clerk of Noxubee County, and Noxubee County were sued by the U.S. along with Ike Brown and the NDEC, for violating Section 11(b) of the Voting Rights Act. A consent decree was entered with these defendants contemporaneously with the filing of the Ike Brown complaint, which they were removed from. Illinois Maria Azada F Primary, General 2011-03 Non-citizen voting Registration fraud - ineligible non-citizen 17 9 Maria Azada, an illegal alien from the Philippines, was found guilty of 17 felony counts related to voter fraud in Lake County, including perjury, mutilation of election materials, and tampering with voting machines in connection with illegal voting by a non-U.S. citizen. In February 2009, Azada admitted to a USCIS officer during an interview for an immigration benefit that she had voted in an election. An investigation revealed that Azada voted nine times in primary, general and consolidated elections between 2003 and 2009. Illinois Mahmoud Vakili Parvin Vakili M Multiple 2011-9 Non-citizen voting Registration fraud - ineligible non-citizen 2 5 Mahmoud Vakili and his wife Parvin Vakili were charged with perjury of the election code and mutilation of election material. The couple, who were both born in Iran, were not U.S. citizens. According to the Lake County Clerk's office, Mahmoud Vakili first registered to vote in Lake County in 1988 and Parvin Vakili in 1992. Since then, Mahmoud voted five times and Parvin seven times, most recently in 2010.
