|Massachusetts||Mark Evangelous||M,||2011-10||Marlborough municipal||2012-01||Absentee/Mail||Impersonation-deceased||Forgery||3||0||Mark Evangelous, a candidate for councilor-at-large in the 2011 Marlborough city election, was indicted in February 2012 on voter fraud charges for submitting a fraudulent absentee ballot application in the name of a deceased voter. A grand jury returned a “true bill” indicting Evangelous, age 51, with charges of forgery, uttering and violating absentee voting laws. He has also been charged with lying to the police during an investigation of the allegations. The charges relate to a fraudulent absentee ballot application that was submitted to the City Clerk's office by Evangelous, on the Friday before the November 1, 2011 election, for a person he said was his aunt. The clerk's office subsequently determined the woman was deceased.
