Missouri Brian Bland M 2006 Registration Fraud Brian Bland was one of eight individuals from ACORN’s Project Vote affiliate, investigated by the FBI and arrested in 2007 for violation of election laws. Ohio Chad Staton M Registration Fraud 10 Chad Staton admitted falsifying over 100 voter registration forms in exchange for crack cocaine, using names including Michael Jackson and Mary Poppins, according to the indictment. The person who paid him was associated with the NAACP National Voter Fund. Charged with 10 counts false registration. Iowa Unknown impersonator F 2012 Special Impersonation 1 Someone impersonated a Linn County woman and cast a fraudulent ballot in her name in a 2012 special election. That vote was counted. The woman who was impersonated later showed up at the polls and was given a provisional ballot. There was no way to identify the impersonator. California Unknown impersonator used identity of Julita Abutin (deceased 2006) Multiple Impersonation 0 4 Someone used the identity of Julita Abutin to vote in Norwalk in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014. Abutin died in 2006. Connecticut George Cabrera, Jr. (former candidate) M 2000-03 Democratic Town Council primary D Absentee/Mail George Cabrera, Jr. was one of several candidates vying for election to the Bridgeport Town Council. He participated in an absentee ballot mobilization effort with several other candidates. As part of his actions, he broke the law by being present when people filled out their ballots and then again when he took possession of the ballots for submission to election officials. Cabrera settled with the State of Connecticut State Elections Enforcement Commission in order to avoid litigation and additional expense. Texas Unknown impersonator 2016-05 Hidalgo municipal Absentee/Mail Impersonation 1 When Sylvia Rodriguez went to the polls to vote in May 2016, election workers told her she'd already voted by mail. Rodriguez said she never sent a mail-in ballot and went to the Hidalgo County Elections Department to nullify it. Rodriguez said a woman came to her house and asked for her mail-in ballot. "She circled the names of the people with the group she was supporting. She told me 'you're going to vote for these three people,'" Rodriguez said.
