California Angel Perales M 2007 2009 Absentee/Mail Ballot tampering 20 Angel Perales pleaded* guilty to voter fraud in Cudahy's 2007 and 2009 elections, admitting to tampering with mail-in ballots in city elections by resealing and submitting votes for incumbent candidates and discarding votes for challengers. The exact number of ballots tampered with is not known, but all mail ballots for both elections were "routinely and systematically opened". Perales also helped voters from outside the district illegally register to vote at an address at which they did not reside. The voter fraud was part of a widespread corruption scheme that also included accepting cash bribes and abusing drugs at City Hall. *Plea deal: 5 years probation http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Cudahy-Officials-Corruption-Bribery-Ball... http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2012/07/cudahy-corruption-election-fraud.h... http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/398989-perales-plea-agreement-filed.html http://media.nbclosangeles.com/documents/perales+plea+agreement+-+filed.pdf
New Jersey Luquay Zahir Marty Small Ernest Storr Tracy Pijuan Floyd Tally David Callaway Toni Dixon Dameka Cross Mark Crumble Michele Griffin Ramona Stephens Demaris Jones Ronald Harris 2009 Municipal - Democratic primary 2009-09 Absentee Ballot Fraud 9 David Callaway and Luquay Q. Zahir were campaign workers allegedly working alongside Atlantic City Councilman Marty Small to commit absentee ballot fraud. They were charged with 9 counts of voter fraud. Allegedly, voters were asked to apply for absentee ballots, but instead of letting the voters choose their own candidate, a self-proclaimed “secret army” mishandled ballots and even had a “shredding party” to dispose of votes for opposing candidates. Voters were told whom to vote for, never received their ballots — which wound up being cast anyway — or got their applications and ballots at the same time. It was alleged that some voters did not even live in the city, and used fictitious addresses in order to vote. Zahir was acquitted. Ohio Marian Wilson F 2010-09 2012-10 Multiple voting Absentee/mail 1 1 Franklin County resident Marian Wilson, of 1922 Kendall Place, Grove City, was charged with felony voter fraud after the Board of Elections reported that they had voted more than once in a past election. Wilson was indicted by a Franklin County grand jury on one count of illegal voting for voting twice by casting absentee ballots under slightly different names. Wilson was accused of casting a second ballot on Sept. 29, 2010, under the name Marian Toles. Elections officials working to clean up voter-registration rolls discovered that the voter had requested, received and returned absentee ballots in both names. Illegal voting is a fourth-degree felony, which can result in up to 18 months in prison for a conviction. But under sentencing reforms, convictions for such offenses bring a sentence of probation if they are non-violent. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/10/17/3-people-indicted-for-f...
Missouri Tammy J. Martin F Multiple Voting 1 Martin pleaded guilty to voting twice in the same election. 1 year probation
Connecticut Amy Bovaird F Registration Fraud A complaint was made that Richard Murray, Neill Bovaird, Kelly Way, Nancy Pilon, Janelle Rooks, M. Samantha Geiger, Amy Bovaird, Peter Nygard, Shannon Nygard and Angela Harwood were registered and in some cases voted in a place where they did not reside. An Election Commission investigation found that the defendants had registered in good faith with the belief that they did reside in the district in which they registered. The Commission found that had the Registrar's office been more thorough and done their diligence, it would have found that the addresses provided were not within the required district and the voter registrations/voting would not have occurred. Not charged http://seec.ct.gov/e2casebase/data/fd/FD_2010_073.pdf
