From a list of almost 200 voter fraud cases that occurred since June 2007, only one person was charged. Indiana ADDED SOURCE Agnes Murphy (mother of city councilman) F Absentee Ballot Fraud Agnes Murphy was the mother of a city councilman, Monte Murphy, who was convicted of fraudulently handling absentee ballots. Agnes Murphy was also accused of fraudulently handling absentee ballots. The charges against her were eventually dismissed. North Carolina Ahmed Sultan Laghari (city council candidate) Zahida Sultan Laghari M 2011-09 2012-03 Ineligible district voting Registration fraud - ineligible district 1 Ahmed Sultan Laghari, a Ward 4 candidate for Statesville City Council, and his wife were accused of using a false address as their official residence when voting. He reportedly said that they lived in an apartment inside Ward 4 city limits, but they also owned a home outside of Mooresville's town limits. Montana Alan Lloyd Skari M County School Absentee/Mail 2 1 Accused of voting his ex-wife's mail-in ballot without her permission in a county school election. Charged with limits on voting rights and deceptive election practices. Agreen to plead guilty to limits on voting rights. (Case #CR-2011-0006, Liberty County) Fined $250 and assessed $35 in surcharges. Georgia Albert Palmour Carleton Vines Dorothy Gilreath Steve Chappelear Sidney Johnson Lois Reed Anthony Sparks M 2006 General Absentee/Mail Illegal assistance Carleton Vines and his accomplices (Albert Palmour, Dorothy Gilreath, Steve Chappelear, Sidney Johnson, Lois Reed, and Anthony Sparks) ran an absentee ballot fraud operation designed to rig the 2006 election in which Vines won election as a State Court Judge. Vines’s co-conspirators acted as “runners,” illegally “assisting” voters in filling out their absentee ballots. In many cases, ballots were transported by the conspirators to Vines’s law office before being subsequently mailed. The group signed a consent decree with the state board of election, acknowleding their actions and accepting a public reprimand. Mississippi Alethea Michelle Shaw F 2013-06 Hattiesburg Mayoral 2014-10 Ineligible district voting (+registration) 1 1 Three of seven defendants indicted on voter fraud connected to the 2013 Hattiesburg mayoral elections pleaded guilty last week to misdemeanor charges in 12th District Circuit Court. Alethea Michelle Shaw, 46, Carmon Yvette Anderson, 53, and Joseph Lee Anderson, 53, each pleaded* guilty to a charge of voting out of district of legal domicile. Shaw works as public defender for the City of Hattiesburg’s Municipal Court. Carmon Anderson works as human resources director for the Hattiesburg Public School District. Each defendant received a suspended sentence of six months, was fined $200 and ordered to pay $220.84 court costs. Shaw was cited for voting in the June 4, 2013, general election even though her legal residence was listed in Lamar County outside Hattiesburg city limits. The Andersons were cited for voting in the Sept. 24, 2013, mayoral special election even though their legal residence was listed in Moselle. The indictments were connected to alleged voting irregularities in the 2013 Hattiesburg mayoral race between incumbent Mayor Johnny DuPree and former Ward 4 City Councilman Dave Ware. After a year-long investigation, two Forrest County grand juries handed down seven misdemeanor indictments in October 2014. Wisconsin Alexander Todd Hamilton M Ineligible felon voting Alexander Todd Hamilton was accused of knowingly voting while being an unqualified, convicted felon. Pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to two years probation and $500 in fines. 2 years of probation and $500 in fines
