Ohio Jacqueline Maiden (Board of Elections Coordinator) F 2004 General OTHER Jacqueline Maiden and Kathleen Dreamer, election board members, were accused of election crimes related to a ballot recount following the 2004 presidential election. Maiden and Dreamer were convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison, but the sentence was overturned and they were granted a retrial. Both ultimately pleaded no contest. Initially sentenced to 18 months in prison, but that was later overturned. New Jersey Ramona Stephens Marty Small Ernest Storr Tracy Pijuan Luquay Zahir Floyd Tally David Callaway Toni Dixon Dameka Cross Mark Crumble Michele Griffin Demaris Jones Ronald Harris F 2009 Municipal - Democratic primary 2009-09 Absentee Ballot Fraud 9 Ramona Stephens was one of 14 who were accused of working with City Councilman Marty Small to commit absentee ballot fraud. Allegedly, voters were asked to apply for absentee ballots, but instead of letting the voters choose their own candidate, a self-proclaimed “secret army” mishandled ballots and even had a “shredding party” to dispose of votes for opposing candidates. Voters were told whom to vote for, never received their ballots — which wound up being cast anyway — or got their applications and ballots at the same time. It was alleged that some voters did not even live in the city, and used fictitious addresses in order to vote. Charged with 9 counts of voter fraud. Charges against Stephens were dismissed. Texas Peter Goeddertz (former candidate for RUD board) M 2010-05 Woodlands Road Utility District 2012-03 Ineligible district voting Registration Fraud Peter Goeddertz was one of seven voters indicted for voting outside their district. The group planned to vote in a district where they did not reside in order to elect three of their members to the board of directors of The Woodlands Road Utility District. The group illegally registered in the district by using the address of a hotel in the district as their home address of their voter registration application. Texas Jose A. Garza M 2012-07 Democratic primary runoff D 2015-03 Absentee/mail Ballot tampering 10 10 Brownsville residents Jose A. Garza and Rafael Elizondo were indicted for possessing marked ballots without the consent of the voter, in violation of Section 86.006 of the Texas Election Code. Elizondo was indicted for possessing more than ten marked ballots without the consent of the voter during a 2012 primary runoff election. Kentucky Tami Jo Risner Gary “Rooster” Risner Larry Shepherd Mason Daniels Scott McCarty F 2014 Primary, General D Vote buying Tami Jo Risner was convicted in federal court of conspiring to buy votes in the 2014 primary and general elections, along with her husband Gary “Rooster” Risner and chief deputy county court clerk Larry Shepherd. Co-defendant Scotty L. McCarty pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor vote-fraud charge and gave information to authorities. Unindicted co-conspirator Charles “Doc” Hardin allegedly put up money for vote buying in multiple elections from 2008 to 2014.
