California Kathleen Knox (former auditor-controller candidate) F 2014-05 Registration fraud - ineligible district 7 3 Kathleen Knox, former candidate for Alameda County auditor-controller, pleaded* no contest to three counts of voter fraud for violations of California's election code. Knox registered to vote at an address that was not her residence. California Daniel Bates M 2006 2006-10 Registration fraud Daniel Bates, along with 11 others, were charged with deceiving voters into re-registering, motivated by a $10 bounty for each new registered voter. Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas charged 12 people with multiple counts of felony voter registration fraud. Bates pleaded guilty to 4 counts of fraudulent completion of affidavit of registration. California Nativo Lopez M 2008 Presidential primary D 2009-06 Ineligible district voting Registration fraud - ineligible district Perjury 8 1 Nativo Lopez pleaded* guilty to one felony count of voter-registration fraud, after being charged by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office with fraudulent voter registration, fraudulent document filing, perjury, and fraudulent voting. Lopez registered to vote using an office address in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles although he lived with his family in Orange County. He also cast an illegal ballot from Los Angeles in the 2008 presidential primary. In 1996, the Latino activist registered new voters in the Orange County congressional district that very narrowly went for Loretta Sanchez over incumbent Bob Dornan.
