Executive Order 14248

When an Executive Order calls on states to strengthen election systems—verifying citizenship, maintaining accurate voter rolls, and securing ballots—the public deserves to know what’s actually being done.

True the Vote has submitted Open Records Requests to all 50 states and the 200 largest counties to find out whether officials are responding and implementing the order’s directives.

These requests don’t assume wrongdoing; they seek accountability through documentation. Each one simply asks for the facts: What actions have been taken? What plans are in place? How are officials ensuring compliance?

If election offices are following the law, their records will show it. If they aren’t, citizens have a right to know why. Open records keep the process transparent, the people informed, and confidence in our elections strong.

Tracking State and County Actions on EO 14248

True the Vote has submitted 250 public records requests — one to every state and to the 200 largest counties in America — asking a single question every citizen deserves answered:

“What actions have you taken, or plan to take, to comply with President Trump’s Executive Order 14248 —‘Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections’?”

This Executive Order directs states to strengthen election systems through accurate voter rolls, citizenship verification, and secure ballot-handling procedures. While parts of the order face legal challenges, every election official should be working now to safeguard the process.

Track your state’s response here — and follow the path from Executive Order 14248 to on-the-ground action in your state.

This document is provided for reference. You are welcome to use the language as a template for your own request; however, please do not submit it on behalf of True the Vote or use True the Vote’s letterhead or branding when doing so.
