Can You Volunteer From Home?
Hi friend!
Do you need to leave your home to make a difference?
Not. At. All.
Volunteering for your country does not have to depend on your availability, age, mobility, experience, knowledge…you get the idea.
There are many ways to make a difference! Here are some options:
Make calls: Use Voter Voice to contact your representatives! Whether you’re advocating for your state to demand DHS database access to be able to check citizenship status in order to maintain clean voter rolls, or you’d like to search for another piece of legislation to inquire about, Voter Voice makes it easy to contact the correct officials in your state.
Send emails or letters: Never underestimate the power of your voice - spoken or written. Use Voter Voice to send written inquiries to elected officials and representatives. If you are worried that your voice won’t be heard for a number of reasons, remember this: changes are only made when we, at the very least, attempt to make those changes. With the level of citizen outcry that we are seeing these days, we are witnessing improvements! Local action will always lead to national changes.
Send Open Records Requests: We could explain here, but Catherine already did it better. Check out this newsletter she sent out detailing step-by-step procedures, where to submit, how to submit, ideas on what to ask…you name it, she covers it. Sending these are far easier than one would think, and between her newsletter and these state-specific templates, you’ll be a pro in no time!
Clean voter rolls: Just because the NVRA deadline for citizen challenges has passed for most states, doesn’t mean that we still can’t be responsible for continuing to clean the rolls - with no deadline. Use Scan. Check. Protect. to not only remove your own name from old voter rolls in the state you no longer live in, but to also remove deceased family members, and to spread the word to family, friends, and acquaintances to do the same. Confirm registration status by clicking on any state and selecting “Am I Registered?” Most states provide a cancellation form, otherwise you may call the county in which you used to be registered to petition to remove your name.
Educate yourself to inform others: Start local. Know your state and local election laws and regulations. Be made aware of local, state, and federal candidates. Join community and county meetings if they are offered remotely. Remain updated on related news, legislation, events, and local efforts. Familiarize yourself with common election terms and what they mean such as: Logic & Accuracy testing, Ballot Chain of Custody, Voter Rolls, Voter Fraud, Primaries vs General Elections, etc. (Pssst…the Election Assistance Commission has a great glossary!)
Gather some friends and neighbors: True the Vote didn’t start off as an internationally-recognized organization. Far from it! Catherine, an everyday mom and community resident, gathered some friends who wanted to make a positive impact and they would meet in a library, a living room, a coffee shop…they started by educating themselves (👆👆👆), reaching out, spreading the word, and getting involved. You are 100% capable of doing the same! Host a Zoom call or a weekly potluck and organically grow your own grassroots movement!
Organize: Whether you start a grassroots effort or you join a team, various meetings and efforts always require organization. You can be the one to collect materials, make calls, fundraise, gather volunteers, make signs, and schedule.
PRAY: Prayer is our most powerful weapon and our words and declarations will change the world. The Lord spoke, and everything came to be. We partnered with Intercessors for America because we believe in the power of prayer. If you would like to pray for individuals, organizations, election officials and volunteers, or need prayers for yourself, join the many thousands who are a part of Pray the Vote!
Donate: If you are able to, please consider contributing so that we can continue to further our efforts, educate the citizens of our beautiful nation, and fight legals battles.
Never, ever give up. We know this giant we face appears to be bigger than we can battle, but we far outnumber those who are trying to take us down. Join together, get involved, use your voice, and together we will True the Vote.
