Hi Friend,

Picture it: you're at the front of the line on Election Day, ID in hand, and the poll worker frowns at the screen.

"It says you're inactive."

Some surprises can wait. That's not one of them.

Here's what else you don't want to find out at the polls:

  • Your address is wrong.
  • Your history shows an election you don't remember voting in, or a way of voting you didn't use.
  • A stranger is registered at your home.
  • Something just doesn't match.

Election Day is the wrong day to start asking why. That's why this week's TTVN Live came down to two words:

Check now.

The reports are flooding in. Here are just some of the reports we've received this week:

One of my registered addresses on file is registered to an address I never lived at because it’s a vacant lot. My wife is also registered there. Scam address! The third party info shows me as having voted in democrat primaries. I have never voted in a Democrat primary. I became a citizen on 10/18/2006 and was shown as having voted in democratic primaries from 2008 to 2020. I never did that.My history shows I voted by absentee ballot 11/2/2004. I have NEVER in my voting history ever voted by absentee ballot and I've been registered since I was 18 years old - I'm 57 now.In the supplemental voting history it says I voted in the Democratic primary 6/11/2002. I have NEVER registered in SC as a Democrat and NEVER voted for any Democrat!I have never filled out an absentee ballot EVER. Not in 2016 nor 2018!

These reports are not fear mongering, but they are a wake-up call. They also tell a story of how far back this has been occurring.

When you check your record, you are empowered by knowledge. Knowledge is not something those who have been keeping you in the dark want you to have.

Shasta County, CA ROV Clint Curtis joined us again yesterday for an update on the FBI investigation.

Curtis said federal agencies have reviewed materials he provided, though he could not discuss what investigators examined or found. He also described disputes over access to surveillance footage, previously retained ballots and other records, and said he continues to document and refer concerns to the appropriate authorities while pushing for greater transparency in the election process.

But there's a new wrinkle: surveillance footage previously available through public records requests is now being heavily redacted. Curtis says the redactions go beyond obscuring individual employees—the county is now blurring portions of the physical workspace itself, including the staircase and ballot-room area where earlier footage had captured activity that prompted questions. The result: areas the cameras were intended to make observable can no longer be seen in the released footage.

His main call to action was simple: Curtis asked citizens to continue contacting the White House and federal authorities to bring attention to what is happening in Shasta County. He asks that his findings and proposed solutions receive federal review before the midterms.

You can find the contact information and a template to use here in "It Would Be Easy to Burn This Building Down".

So where do you start for your own record?

Scan. Check. Protect. points you to three places:

1. Your registration. Name, address, status, and party where your state records it. Does it all match?

2. Your voting history. Go election by election. If your state shows how you voted, check that too. Voted in person? The record should say in person. See an election you sat out? Take note.

3. Who else is registered at your address. Do you know every name? If one doesn't make sense, don't shrug it off.

THEN CLICK THE BUTTON.

This is the step most people skip. Please don't.

After you check, tell us what you found:

🟢 Everything looks right? Tell us.
🟡 The lookup didn't load or didn't work? Tell us.
🔴 Something looks wrong? Tell us, and document it.

We aren't only looking for problems. Thousands of people finding clean, accurate records tells us something too. We need the whole picture.

If something is wrong, SCP will point you to next steps based on what you report.

Check My Record

KEEP THE RECEIPTS.

Take screenshots. Save emails. Write down dates, times, and who you talked to. Contact your county or state election office about the issue, and go to state, federal, or law enforcement officials if it calls for that. Then let us know at info@truethevote.org.

Do it now, while there's still time to get answers.

Because the best Election Day surprise is no surprise at all.
