Just Facts: 10% to 27% of Non-Citizens are Illegally Registered to Vote

A recent JustFacts.com study found that between 10% to 27% of non-citizen adults in the U.S. are illegally registered to vote. The U.S. Census recorded more than 19 million adult non-citizens living in the U.S. during 2022. Given their voter registration rates, this means that about 2 million to 5 million are illegally registered to vote. These figures are potentially high enough to overturn the will of the American people in major elections, including congressional seats and the presidency.

Further, True the Vote's exposé on the Voting for Aliens clause 611c3 reveals that under certain conditions, aliens are not penalized for voting if they merely believe they are citizens.

Critics might dismiss concerns about a “slippery slope,” but history shows that laws often do, in fact, expand beyond their original intent to fit political agendas. Looking only at examples from Election Law:

  • The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). Intended to streamline voter registration, it placed administration in the hands of multiple public agencies, leading to increased inaccuracies in voter rolls and facilitating voter fraud.
  • Help America Vote Act (HAVA), aimed at addressing voting system issues post-2000, mandated electronic voting systems. However, this shift compromised security, introducing vulnerabilities to hacking and technical failures. The requirement for provisional ballots also led to confusion and inconsistent handling across states.
  • The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). While designed to assist military personnel and overseas citizens, UOCAVA allows U.S. citizens born abroad, who have never resided in the U.S., to vote absentee in 38 states and the District of Columbia. This loophole, largely unknown to many Americans, significantly impacts federal elections.

Clearly, laws do get expanded beyond their original intent, often to suit political agendas. Given the direction of executive orders from the current administration - such as Executive Order 14019, the Biden Administration required that all federal government agencies push voter registration - particularly targeting populations where eligibility statuses cannot be effectively tracked, like students, prisoners, and non-citizens. (Fact: government agencies are historically synonymous with “waste, fraud and abuse”) Then, they effectively abandon the southern border.

So, the “Ministry of Truth” wants to dismiss concerns about potential expansions of 611c3's powers? Just look at VERY recent history for a reality check: In 4 years we’ve gone from a “Remain in Mexico” border control policy to over 10 million illegal border crossings. Yeah, we’re concerned.
