"Steady Watchmen": Week 2
Hi, Friend!
Last week, we commenced with Steady Watchmen’s First Week for this summer’s volunteer campaign! Are you ready to dive into week 2?
✅ Week 2 - Build a Local “Watch Team”:
- Identify 2–5 like-minded citizens in your area: Now that you’ve reviewed your local election office’s standards and identified what needs some attention, you have enough information to build a team!Do you have friends, family, or neighbors who want to get involved and don’t know where to start? Perhaps there are voters in a local Facebook group who want to start a team? You don’t need a large volume of people to start your own group of Steady Watchmen!
- Start a group text or small meet-up group to share updates and action steps: Reach out, get a weekly in-person or Zoom meeting on the calendar, and begin making plans!
- Assign roles: Tasks can be simple and divided amongst each Watchman - one tracks legislation, one follows local elections, one organizes meet-ups. (ICYMI, we will be launching the beta version of LegiTrack this week!)
These bite-sized steps are not only obtainable, but you can always “catch up” easily if you need to start the following week. Remember: volunteering even 5-10 minutes of your time daily is a great start! Stay encouraged, reach out if you have any questions, and remain firm in your truth.
