HOUSTON, Texas – In recognition of National Voter Registration Day, True the Vote today released state-by-state voting guides to give voters the direction they need to cast their vote in November’s general election.

"With a historic presidential election approaching, every eligible American voter should exercise his or her most basic civil right, the right to a free and fair election. Yet, one in four eligible Americans is not registered to vote and many voters are searching for much-needed information on how to vote this November," said Catherine Engelbrecht, founder and president of True the Vote. "Today, True the Vote is empowering all eligible Americans with the information they need to get registered, check to make sure their registration is accurate and active, and if they've moved recently, call their previous state to have their outdated registration removed."

This year, voter registration is more important than ever due to COVID-19. The national pandemic has forced the closure of DMVs and halted voter registration field programs across the country resulting in a decrease in the number of new and updated voter registrations collected since March. In order to combat this decline, True the Vote is providing state-by-state information directly to voters on voter registration and election processes, key dates, and requirements for voting.

True the Vote is Encouraging Americans to Complete Three To-Dos on National Voter Registration Day:
1. If you're over 18, a citizen, and not yet registered to vote get registered!
2. If you are registered, go to the Secretary of State's website in your state and check your registration to make sure it's accurate and active!
3. And, if you've moved recently, go to the Secretary of State website of your former state and check your registration .... Is it still active? If so, contact their office and take the necessary steps to have your registration removed.
